Lena Maria meets Africa
Lena Maria Klingvall was born in Sweden with no arms and left leg half as long as the right normal leg. She became an international singing star, olympic athlete, writer – and she is a Christian. She lectures today in many parts of the world. Anneth Munga grew up with a Swedish EFS missionary in Tanzania, Mama Ulla Svensson. She became a priest, active in Sweden and Tanzania. From her church Anneth got call to start and manage SEKUCo, a new university in the rainforest of 1400 m in the north-eastern Tanzania. SEKUCo is a university on Christian principles, with particular attention to “disability issues”. Goran Skytte, one of Sweden’s most experienced journalists, has in several films talked about SEKUCo – which he considers “a miracle of our time.” In this documentary he brings Lena Maria Klingvall to meet Anneth Munga and students at SEKUCo. In many ways a unique meeting. Lena Maria sings and talks about her life. The students are both Christians and Muslims – and in a moving scene they sing along with Lena Maria the Swedish hymn, How Great Thou Art.

Våga drömma (hard cover)
Life hardly ever turns out the way you think. Lena Maria never dreamed about becoming an elite athletes, singer, painter, lecturer or author. She wanted to become an operator or a truckdriver. Born with no arms and only one normal leg both she and her parents faced many challanges. But she learnt to seize her possibilities and to work hard and sina möjligheter och att jobba hårt och purposefully. Today the whole world is her field of work when she sings and talks about her life and each person’s unique value. In “Våga drömma”, we follow Lena Maria from the small farm where she grew up to the great concert halls of Asia and the conventions in the United States. Lena Maria tells in words and pictures about the people, the music and everything else that gave her the energy to tackle life’s challenges – and to come through adversity with joie de vivre intact. She also shows some of her own watercolor and oil paintings, and tells how it came about that she became a manga cartoon in Japan. “My hope with this book is that it may bring a zest for life. All human beings have enormous potential, despite the limitations we live with. I want to encourage you to take advantage of your life and your talents. Try your own wings, think big thoughts – and dare to dream! ”
